EB-5: Investing Your Way to a Green Card
EB-5 offers permanent residency in exchange for a qualifying investment that creates U.S. jobs β through a direct business or a regional center.
The EB-5 program grants permanent residency to investors who make a qualifying investment in a new commercial enterprise and can show that the investment creates or preserves the required number of U.S. jobs.
Investors generally choose between a direct investment in a business they'll help run, or a regional center investment, which is more passive and typically counts indirect job creation toward the requirement.
Because EB-5 cases are evaluated on both the source of the investment funds and the strength of the underlying business, the strategy usually starts with two questions: can the source of funds be documented cleanly, and does the investment itself hold up under scrutiny.
