TN Visas for Canadian & Mexican Professionals
Under USMCA, TN status offers a fast, cap-free path for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals to work in the U.S.
The TN category exists under the USMCA (formerly NAFTA) and is available to citizens of Canada and Mexico working in a defined list of professional occupations, from engineers and accountants to scientists and management consultants.
Compared to other work visas, TN status is notably efficient β there's no annual cap and, for Canadian citizens, it can often be requested directly at a port of entry rather than waiting on a formal petition.
The tradeoff is precision: the job offered has to match one of the listed professional categories exactly, and the supporting documentation has to make that match unmistakable to the officer reviewing it.
